Gerrit’s mission is simple: To continuously find ways and means to get things done easier and faster, and share this with as many people as possible so they can enjoy life and living more.
So it is no surprise that, after teaching maths and physics in high school, and working in the chemical industry for 12 years, he has rubbed shoulders and established working relationships with some of the leading minds in personal development, performance and productivity.
After two years running a SMI (Success Motivation International) franchise, he was an integral part of the South African franchise for the work of Stephen R Covey and facilitated The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as well as the Covey time management and leadership development workshops.
The work of the late Dr Jerry L Fletcher (Paradoxical Thinking: How to profit from your contradictions) attracted him and has provided a toolset for improving the performance of individuals and teams. Jerry visited Gerrit in South Africa and together they facilitated public and in-house programmes on developing an individual’s unique Pattern of High Performance, i.e. to establish what people do when they do their best work.
Gerrit visited David Allen (author of Getting Things Done) in the USA in 2001, attended his workshops and received training in helping people to manage their workflow more efficiently.
Barbara Hemphill’s contribution to improving productivity was next on his development list, and in January 2006 he visited the USA with his colleague Richard de Villiers to attend the PTAC training programme in San Diego.
Gerrit has successfully integrated best practices of working and living more productively in his approach to assisting his clients (mostly business owners and corporate executives).
